Honestly, I did not really "need" it a sampler, but for this price point I just wanted to give it a try to "play around"...
and it turned out to be
- EASY
I hate reading manuals, but 1) this device is very easy structured 2) it has a very thin yet descriptive manual 3) there are plenty of Youtube videos for getting up to speed...
- POWERFUL
1. I can sample via mic and assign to keys
2. I can sample through midi in (iPod) and assign to keys
3. I can hook it up to my MacBook (via USB) and transfer samples from my HD to the MikroSampler (even adjusting the samples beforehand in the Korg Sample Editor)
4. I can have up to 21 effects on EACH key = sample (e.g. Reverb, Compressor!, EQ, etc.!!!)
5. Potentially I could produce a complete song on that device from A to Z (even though cumbersome, it would be possible!)

I use this Sampler as "Idea Generator" for my next tracks!
= Put song pieces, one shots, patterns on different keys and play around...modify the samples within the sampler (truncate, level, effect or exchange for other sample) until I have a good understanding of the basic layout of my new song --> then going to Reason 6 ;-)
Would give it 5 stars for features, usability and portability, but minus 1 star for only having 160 sec. sample RAM for each of the 8 banks ;-(
